Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience* in equal employment opportunity, human rights, or affirmative action; or bachelor’s degree and satisfactory completion of a two-year traineeship.
*Qualifying experience includes working with community service organizations concerned with affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, civil rights, diversity management, minority business development, or similar programs; recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members; or working in human resources in areas directly related to affirmative action.
Substitutions: An Associate’s Degree may substitute for two years of experience; a Bachelor’s Degree may substitute for four years; and J.D. or Master’s degree for one additional year.
Duties Description At the Office of General Services (OGS), we are committed to equal employment opportunity and maintaining a diverse workplace that is free of discrimination and harassment. The Affirmative Action Administrator 1, reporting to the Director of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Development, provides expertise in maintaining a workplace that is inclusive, respectful and free from discrimination, harassment and retaliation. As part of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Development, the incumbent will implement and monitor diversity management and equal employment opportunity programs at OGS and hosted agencies.
Duties may include, but not be limited to the following:
• Investigate discrimination and harassment complaints as it relates to the NYS Human Rights Law and Title VII.
• Draft investigation reports as required.
• Effectively communicate with all levels of employees at OGS and hosted agencies.
• Be knowledgeable with existing and revised laws, rules, regulations and policies governing the program and help to assure that OGS and hosted agencies comply with them.
• Serve as liaison with other state agencies and authorities relative to EEO and affirmative action issues.
Note: This position requires some travel.
