PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related scientific fields. A Master of Science is preferred.

Successful candidates must have sufficient technical skills (e.g. Python, R, bash, C/C++) to both modify existing processing pipelines and develop applications for novel data analysis strategies. Strong skills in medical image processing, digital signal processing, and machine learning are highly desirable.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should have the following:

• Proficiency in programming Python, R, C/C++, MATLAB, and
proficiency in Linux environment.
• Experience in Neuromodulation methods, Finite Element
Method, and Electrophysiology.
• Experience in Digital Signal Processing or Medical Image
processing.
• Proficiency in the application of multivariate analytic
techniques. Machine learning theory strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of cognitive and/or clinical neuroscience.
• Ability to work effectively in a very collaborative and
multidisciplinary environment.

Duties Description The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist in the development and implementation of analytic methods and pipelines related to neuromodulation, including the application of Finite Element Method to estimate field and current density in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation, and Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation. The analyst will also support integration of electrophysiological data from electromyographic and scalp electrode arrays into the analytic pipelines.

Specific responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:

• Implementing modeling approaches to estimate current and
field density in the brain using realistic biophysical modeling
through the Finite Element Method.

• Assisting in the implementation of targeted stimulation
protocols, based on neuroanatomical landmarks and targets
identified via fMRI or EEG methods.

• Assisting in the analysis of electrophysiological (EEG,
electromyography) readouts during or following
neuromodulation protocols.

• Assisting in the analysis of fMRI readouts (task-based or
resting-state) during or following neuromodulation protocols.

• Interfacing between DANL senior staff and Clinical Division
researchers and staff.

Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review:
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
