Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title, or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a Public Safety Grants Representative 2 (previously Criminal Justice Program Representative 2) position and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law, or a reachable score on the Civil Service eligible list for this title.

Duties Description The Community Correction Representative 2 (CCR2) is assigned to the Adult Operations Unit and is responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance strategies to monitor and promote effective/evidence-based practices in New York's probation departments. Areas for quality assurance will include, but not be limited to:

• Rule Compliance
• Evidence Based Practices/Cognitive Behavioral Interventions
• Risk/Need Assessment, Case Planning, and Case Management
• Policy and Procedures
• Data Management/Reporting
• Caseload Explorer Utilization
• GIVE Initiative (where applicable)

Strategies will include providing technical assistance feedback to departments based on review and analysis of data/information available to DCJS, probation department site visits, and other quality assurance efforts. The CCR 2 will support the use of validated, NYS approved risk and needs assessments, including the NYCOMPAS and other instruments, through technical assistance, guidance, and training; review Critical Incident Reports received from counties, conduct follow-up with the counties as necessary, and provide a summary to the Deputy Commissioner and Director; conduct further reviews of select cases as assigned; conduct probation department site visits as necessary to interview staff and develop recommendations to improve probation practice; instruct modules in the Fundamentals of Probation Practice training program, and coordinate/deliver training related to other areas of assignment; serve as a reviewer of the Annual Probation Plans, conduct follow-up where necessary, and makes recommendations to senior staff regarding plan approval; and supervises staff as necessary.

Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
