Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Must possess a valid dentistry license and a current registration to practice dentistry in New York State.

Duties Description As a Dentist 1, you would do extractions, restorations, prosthetics, root canal therapy, prophylaxis and limited periodontics administer local anesthesia; examine and chart the dental condition of patients; take and interpret dental x-rays; perform oral surgery and treat oral diseases and infections. Where appropriate, the dentist may provide oral hygiene instruction. You would have responsibility, usually under the advisory direction of a higher ranking dentist, for the regular examination, treatment and complete dental care of patients in a state facility. You may be the only dentist in a small facility.
