Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience in domestic violence service programs, training and/or education. A Bachelor’s Degree can substitute for four years’ experience. A Master’s Degree can substitute for five years’ experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in domestic violence law enforcement programs. Knowledge of issues pertaining to domestic and gender-based violence and the service delivery system for victims of gender-based violence, broad awareness of and direct connection to diverse, community-based organizations, particularly those that work directly with the populations listed above, and strong writing, speaking, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Director of External Affairs for the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV), the Domestic Violence Program Administrator 1 will be responsible for planning and implementing outreach and specifically, building trust in communities of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGTBQIA+, and LatinX individuals that have been disproportionally impacted by gender-based violence and have been historically disenfranchised from traditional service delivery models and community resources. OPDV is using a racial justice lens and identifying how gender-based violence services are impacted by implicit bias. This work is in keeping with a key objective of the Governor’s 2020 COVID Domestic Violence Task Force to develop more culturally responsive service delivery approaches or those impacted by gender-based violence. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
• Coordinate training and programs directed to BIPOC, LGTBQIA+, LatinX, and other diverse audiences, including facilitation of meetings, production of documents pursuant to the initiative, acting as a liaison to community-based organizations and groups that engage historically disenfranchised audiences;
• Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to enhance agency understanding of the intersectionality of racism, sexism, and other systemic biases both separate from and within service delivery responses to domestic and gender-based violence;
• Conduct training and outreach activities for other target audiences under the direction of the Director of External Affairs;
• Provide support to various agency programmatic initiatives as assigned;
• Prepare written reports on Agency project activities. This includes data collection of staff activities and expenditures and analysis of how such data relates to the advancement of Agency initiatives and/or contracts and providing recommendations to the supervisor;
• Assist in staff development activities to promote workplace improvement and to advance the professional qualifications of Agency staff;
• May supervise staff; and
• Handle special projects and assignments, as needed.
