Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades-worker or completion of an appropriate two year technical school course.

Duties Description Maintenance Assistants use hand and shop tools to perform semiskilled maintenance and repair work on structures and equipment.

- Perform a variety of tasks of the buildings and grounds maintenance trades. Including repairs to plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems. Carpentry, furniture moving and snow removal.
- Assist in the maintenance of, trails, parking areas, hunting & fishing access site elements, Department assets and infrastructure.
- Manage a Vehicle Pool of 25 vehicles. Arrange for vehicle inspections, oil changes and repairs to be done in a timely manner.
- Maintain the Property Inventory database.
- Create and update data in the Maintenance Management System.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel, overnight travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 60 pounds.

This position is temporary and currently funded through 3/31/22 with a possibility of continuing after that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule and duties may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
