Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Permanent Appointment- Candidate must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list. Candidates currently serving as a Park Operations Manager 3 may be eligible for reassignment. Candidates serving in a title that is eligible for 52.6 transfer may also be appointed on a permanent basis.
Provisional qualifications- Either A. One year of permanent, competitive service as a Park Operations Manager 2 or Park Operations Manager 1;
Or B. Two years of permanent, competitive service as a Park Manager 3.

Duties Description This position serves as the Assistant Regional Director for the Taconic Region. The incumbent of this position reports to the Regional Director, Parks and Recreation, M-4 and is located in the Taconic Regional Office in Staatsburg, NY. The Park Operations Manager 3 under the general direction of the Regional Director, supervises the administration, operation, and maintenance of all facilities and functions within the Taconic Region as part of a team. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Supervises the Business Office, as well as Human Resources function for the region.
• Evaluates work of facility and function managers to determine if they are operating in compliance with existing ORPHP policies and procedure, rules and regulations and reporting protocols.
• Oversees Park Operations Manager 1 and facility managers in planning and implementation of operations with an eye toward LEAN processes and other efficiencies.
• Reviews and approves facility plans for hiring and assignment of permanent, seasonal and volunteer staff needed to support programs held at facilities.
• Assists in setting priorities for needed maintenance projects and preventative maintenance schedules and project plans identified by facility managers to be handled by the facility-based maintenance staff. Oversees regional asset tracking.
• Oversees region-wide enforcement of policy and procedures for occupational health and safety and patron safety and supervises Regional Safety Manager.
• Manages special projects.
