Minimum Qualifications Permanent transfer candidates: Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Administrative Specialist 1 (G18); OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 52.6, Section 70.1, or Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to a Administrative Specialist 1 (G18), Administrative Specialist Trainee 1 (NS), or Administrative Specialist Trainee 2 (NS). Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate would have excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple assignments. The preferred candidate would also be a licensed notary public.
Duties Description The Administrative Specialist 1 will overss the office support activities and manage human resource functions for the Bureau of Special Investigations [BSI]. BSI is responsible for conducting investigations, desk audits and data mining to ensure program integrity for the NYS WIC program. The incumbent will be responsible for administering the Freedom of Information Act by reviewing requests for information, locating material requested and determining if it is available to the public in accordance with the law, and forwarding the material to the requestor; design, revise, and control the use of forms. to streamline the WIC vendor application process; prepare reports and other written materials for Division Leadership and or administrative proceedings resulting from BSI program actions. The incumbent will also ensure the confidentiality of program records, files, and investigative information. The Administrative Specialist 1 will also be tasked with the management of Bureau purchases of goods and services and the oversight of human resource activities while providing direct oversight to one or more of the Bureau’s administrative and/or clerical staff.
