Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications A. Experience

Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, consultative or supervisory experience in a mental health program including one of the following:

1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position comparable to a Clinical Chief of Service (COS) or Director of Mental Health Rehabilitation;

OR

2. Two (2) years of satisfactory experience in a position as administrative head of a multi- disciplinary treatment team;

OR

3. Two (2) years of satisfactory supervisory, professional, or administrative experience in the development, operation, and/or implementation of the mental health service delivery system for State facilities, counties, or local/private agencies in three (3) or more of the following areas: program development, management procedures, community organization, resource planning, funding, program proposals, advisory boards, consumer and community advocacy and intergovernmental relations.

AND

B. Education

A Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science from an accredited school; or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada. Current registration or licensure required where applicable.

Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.

Duties Description The DDPC 2 – Operations serves as an essential member of the Executive Leadership Team at PPC. Under the general direction of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with the Clinical Director, the DDPC 2 – Operations is responsible for the coordination, direction, and oversight of PPC’s inpatient and residential treatment services. The DDPC 2 – Operations participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of facility goals and policies; ensures that all services provided are consistent with the current vision of the Executive Teams in OMH Central Office and PPC; supervises, coordinates, and directs the activities of managers in inpatient and residential treatment program areas; monitors and oversees staffing, assignments and work schedules to ensure efficient and effective service delivery and quality patient care; ensures that service delivery complies with OMH guidelines and regulatory agency standards; and ensures the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic treatment environment.

Additional Comments Pilgrim Psychiatric Center (PPC), a New York State Office of Mental Health state-operated, Joint Commission accredited, and CMS certified facility is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 2 – Operations (DDPC 2 – Operations).
PPC provides a continuum of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric, residential, and related services with approximately 265 inpatient beds and 4 outpatient treatment centers, plus one ACT Team providing services throughout Suffolk County. Inpatient Services are in two modern complexes and offer a wide variety of treatment options. The campus, which houses multiple tenants: housing providers, mental health court, ATC, and Crisis Residence, is within easy access to parkways, public transportation, and local shopping. Background Investigation and Fees:

All prospective employees will be fingerprinted and undergo a complete Criminal Background Check against New York State and federal criminal history records. Candidates will also be subject to a check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, and the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) maintained by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). Candidates may be required to pay the fees associated with these background checks. Employment is contingent upon your complying with and satisfactorily meeting these background investigation requirements.
