Minimum Qualifications CONTINUOUS POSTING/OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Mon. - Fri.: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Summers, Mon. Fri.: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

Candidates must have a reachable score on the University at Albany Licensed Practical Nurse Exam List OR
Be a current NYS employee and have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as a Licensed Practical Nurse, or in a title eligible to transfer to Licensed Practical Nurse OR
Be a former NYS employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Licensed Practical Nurse
On or before the date of filing your application, you must have one of the following:

a license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR
a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR
an application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State. (You must be appointed immediately following graduation from an approved school of practical nursing in New York State to qualify under this option.)

Note: If you are appointed with either qualification "2" or "3," you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited permit was issued or steps will be taken to remove you from the position.

Please read the entire examination announcement (including "Subject of Examination") before submitting your NYS-APP

The NYS-APP: There is no written test and no test date is involved. The NYS-APP is the test. Your completed NYS-APP will be the only basis for rating your education and experience. Ambiguity, vagueness or omissions will not be decided in your favor.
