Minimum Qualifications Qualifications for Provisional Appointment:
60 college semester credit hours including at least 12 credit hours in fisheries, aquaculture or aquatic sciences, aquatic ecology, limnology, or mariculture.
Examples of Non-Qualifying coursework for purposes of this exam include but are not limited to; biology, botany, chemistry, environmental education, environmental studies, dendrology, general ecology, forestry, marine resources, natural resource management, oceanography, ornithology, silviculture, watershed management and zoology.

Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 55b/c candidates and 70.4 transfer eligibles): 60 semester credit hours including at least twelve credit hours in fisheries, marine resources, aquaculture or aquatic sciences, aquatic ecology, limnology, or mariculture.

Duties Description Incumbent will be responsible for general fish culture and hatchery maintenance duties and may direct the work of hourly employees and volunteers. Under the general supervision of a Fish Culturist 2 or 3, incumbent will maintain and clean raceways and ponds; feed fish; monitor fish health and provide treatments; load, deliver, and stock fish; and participate in egg harvesting; fertilization, and incubation. Incumbent will also maintain and repair physical plant and facility equipment; perform grounds maintenance; participate in public education efforts; perform record keeping and inventory activities; and participate in scientific studies.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel, overtime, and overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Per federal government requirements, you may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a state and federal criminal background check.
