The incumbent of the position will be required to take a written examination for Coastal Resources Specialist 1, A PCO Select Job Title; fill out and submit the PCO Questionnaire; and be reachable for appointment from the newly established eligible list.
Duties Description The Coastal Resources Specialist 1 (CRS1) will work within either the Consistency, Local Waterfront Revitalization, or Climate Change and Resiliency Units. As a CRS1, you may:
• assist in the development, review, and implementation of plans and projects that protect, restore and/or develop land, water and/or other resources in coastal areas or other waterfront locations;
• review planning and construction projects undertaken by waterfront communities and local organizations to advance economic development and protection natural resources for the purpose of improving community revitalization and resilience;
• within established guidelines manage grant project/contracts and provide guidance and technical assistance to various grantees;
• guide development, through the review of projects and activities that require federal actions, by evaluating potential impacts and making recommendations to higher level staff regarding the projects’ consistency with the Coastal Management Program, while ensuring that pertinent statutory, regulatory, and programmatic requirements are met.
In addition, the CRS1 may conduct research and provide guidance on sustainable and resilient solutions for waterfront communities facing extreme events, such as flooding, and communicate technical information for non-technical audiences accurately and effectively. The Coastal Resource Specialist 1 may represent the Office for various inter-agency and local working groups.
