Duties Description This position will serve as a Regional Water Supply Field Coordinator for the Capital Area, and will be responsible for providing oversight of local health department activities in the implementation of all water supply-related programs, and working directly with hospitals and nursing homes on legionella control. The position will respond to public water supply emergencies, waterborne outbreaks, and conduct plan reviews for water supplies, bathing beaches, swimming pools, and realty subdivisions throughout the region. The position will also assist local health departments by serving as a technical resource, coordinating and providing training, conducting quarterly reviews, and ensuring consistent delivery of environmental health programs.

Additional Comments Permanent, full-time appointment. Depending on the qualifications of the candidate, the position may be filled at the Engineer Trainee level, which is equated to Grade 18, or the Assistant Engineer (Environmental), Grade 20, level. Candidates appointed to the Engineer Trainee level will be required to obtain their Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate within two years to maintain employment and be advanced to the Assistant Engineer (Environmental), Grade 20, level. This position involves travel which includes locations not served by public transportation (30%).
