Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have applied for, and taken, the most recent NYS Civil Service examination for the title of Early Intervention Specialist 1 (G2), #26-733, which was held on November 6, 2021.

Preferred Qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication skills; knowledge and familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to young children with disabilities; experience working on a team to develop: policy documents; requests for proposals; training materials, monitoring tools and protocols. Experience providing guidance to public health program participants; familiarity with the New York Early Intervention System (NYEIS) and/or other state data systems. Experience using Word, Outlook and Excel.

Duties Description The Early Intervention Specialist 1 (EIS 1) will work in the Information Systems, Training, Quality Improvement & SSIP/Outcomes Unit in the Bureau of Early Intervention (BEI), within the Division of Family Health (DFH). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: responding to Early Intervention Program questions received by email or phone from municipal staff, providers, parents, and other stakeholders relating to Program policies, State and federal law and regulations. The EIS1 will be responsible to revise and develop new EIP guidance, based on changes to federal and State regulations and to provide program support to several training contractors to assist with training EI stakeholders, including parents. The incumbent would also participate in developing, updating, producing, and disseminating early intervention guidance materials such as brochures, forms, guidance documents, resource materials, and policies.

Additional Comments Contingent, competitive, full-time. Occasional travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required (25%).
