Duties Description Trades specialist is responsible for all electrical work including planning and laying out work and diagnosis of trouble systems or equipment in an assigned area on an assigned project for the entire facility. A trades specialist electrician may be responsible for the work of a small group of such individuals. You would repair, maintain, and install electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, controls and related equipment, small appliances including radio, TV and record players.

Minimum Qualifications Non Competitive: Successful completion of a NYS two-year trades specialist (electrician) traineeship or NYS two-year electrician training program, or successful completion of any equivalent electrical two-year training, or apprenticeship program
OR four years of full-time experience in electrical trade under a skilled journey level electrician, which would provide training in the electrical trade or training equivalent to that given by an apprenticeship program.
Apprenticeship training in the electric trade or training gained by completion of technical courses in the electrical trade school as a school, institute, or branch of armed services may be substituted on a year for year basis.
