Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work
under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services,
such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS
CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; or an equivalent combination of
experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a
school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
Applicants will be required to present proof of valid NYS Class B driver license. Continued possession of a valid NYS Class B driver license is required to maintain employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working within a range of duties, including maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and construction activities at State facilities. Able to multi-task and provide excellent customer service. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently. Certified to operate a pallet jack and forklit and ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Duties Description The incumbent will be assigned to the Operations Management Group Mail and Supply/Maintenance Unit. Primary duties include operating machine tools, repair, maintain and service automotive and mechanical equipment. Performs semi-skilled carpentry activities including repairing doors, windows, stairs, furniture, locks and door hardware. Repair furniture, chairs, bookcases, sit-stand-desks and other office furnishings. Assists in repairing and maintaining locks by opening locks when kdys are not available, installing locks and cleaning and repairing locks.
Additional Comments Continued possession of a valid NYS Class B driver license is required to maintain employment.
