Duties Description The Director of Training and Employee Development reports to the Director of Administrative Services and will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic guidance to the Training and Employee Development Team for the New York State Thruway Authority. The Director will play a critical role in increasing skill levels across staff by expanding and developing the Authority’s training resources and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Develop an agency-wide training strategy, with processes that will guide staff development and growth within all departments; this will include both employee management and leadership development, as well as training on role-specific areas/skills.
• Evaluate existing training policies and processes at the Authority by conducting an in-depth assessment and leading internal working sessions with department and division staff.
• Identify opportunities to increase training resources and create more accessible and flexible training delivery methods.
• Create and manage time and resource allocation processes/systems to track employee training.
• Create and oversee robust training and leadership development programs to increase skills to foster employee growth.
• Provide training for function-specific processes and for new and existing technologies.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of an up-to-date shared training resource repository of materials for all staff.
• Empower staff to attend trainings and professional development by reviewing and improving policies related to the accessibility of training and development.
• Serve as a resource for external training and professional certifications to ensure staff across the Authority are aware of upcoming training dates and deadlines and learning opportunities to help them succeed.
• Provide regular updates to the Director of Administrative Services and leadership on changes to the training curriculum and new opportunities for Authority employees to expand their skills
• Develop methods to track training delivery, compliance rates for mandatory trainings, and effectiveness of training provided.
Additional Comments Salary is commensurate with experience.
