Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree* AND two years of professional experience** as described below; OR an associate’s degree AND four years of professional experience**; OR six or more years of professional experience** as described below.

**Professional experience includes assisting unemployed or under-employed individuals to obtain benefits while performing one or more of the following activities:
• Researching claim related issues and applying case law to make eligibility determinations.
• Making determinations regarding benefit overpayments and forfeit penalties.
• Reviewing cases submitted for unemployment insurance hearings.
• Examining business or customer statements or other supporting documentation to evaluate accuracy and credibility.
• Interviewing customers, businesses, or other parties to gather facts and verify information.
• Analyzing and applying pertinent law, rules, regulations, and precedents.
• Issuing written determinations to parties regarding eligibility for benefits.
• Identifying cases where possible UI fraud is suspected, and where appropriate, referring for further investigation.
• Determining eligibility for public assistance; or
• Assessing applicants for, or receipts of, welfare employment program benefits to identify and remove barriers to self-sufficiency.


Preferred Qualifications: Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: The Project Assistant in the Workforce Guide team will:
• Field calls from customers that enter career centers with questions regarding their unemployment insurance claims.
• Utilize a combination of unemployment insurance and workforce knowledge to assess customers’ unemployment issues and reemployment needs.
• Assist customers with resolving unemployment claims issues while introducing them to the reemployment services offered by the department.
• Verify and update customer information, review unemployment claims for outstanding issues, answer claim-related questions, provide any required forms, adjudicate determinations to expedite benefit payments where possible, release held certifications, and document all actions in appropriate customer tracking database.
• Provide customers with an overview of the reemployment services offered by the agency including resume assistance, job leads, employment counseling, labor market information, job matching, and virtual employment workshops and job fairs.
• Create, critique and/or update customer resumes to ensure they are current and professional.
• Identify and share information on suitable job leads, training opportunities, and hiring events.
• Refer customers to appropriate services to help meet their reemployment goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
