Salary RangeFrom $37507 to $46103 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
*Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operate.
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Regional Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will assist the Trades Specialist (Mason and Plasterer) for the region performing masonry work including pointing up bricks and stone, plaster walls, flat concrete work setting tile and laying stone or brick. The incumbent will also assist other tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers, and carpenters performing duties that include but not limited to:
• Laying underground plumbing piping and services;
• Roofing;
• Framing;
• Cutting trees and bush as well as assist with the Risk Tree management operations in the region;
• Small electrical repairs outlets, switches, and breakers;
• Small plumbing repairs and fixture replacement;
• Operating equipment such as bucket trucks, septic trucks, and dump trucks.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
• Applicants for the position must possess knowledge of all trades including plumbing, electric, masonry, carpentry and heavy equipment.
• Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess or obtain within the probationary period a valid NYS CDL Class “B” driver’s license and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
• Applicant must be able to supervise seasonal employees and assign work to complete projects.
• Must have the ability to operate a chainsaw and must complete Game of Logging during the next training session
***Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The candidate is required to participate in pre-employment, random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
