Salary RangeFrom $75340 to $95392 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences and three years of post-degree professional research experience in an appropriate field.
Substitutions: master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, and Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Possession of a valid NYS Veterinary Technician license; 10 years of experience in laboratory animal science; and 10 years experience conducting inspections of laboratory animal facilities in a regulatory capacity.
Duties Description The incumbent will assist in the delivery of a high-quality Veterinary Science program which enables the Center’s scientific staff to conduct scientifically valid laboratory research. The incumbent will also ensure that all 100+ facilities regulated by the Department properly conduct scientific tests, experiments and/or educational demonstrations as required by state regulations. The Research Scientist 2 will serve as a voting member on the Wadsworth Center’s IACUC Committee and will review protocols and associated scientific literature to support the Center’s infectious disease and immunology research. The incumbent will also conduct clinical research with emphasis on biosecurity and infectious/zoonotic disease control and prevention.

Additionally, exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment, and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations.
