Minimum Qualifications Reassignment & Transfer Opportunities: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent, competitive status as an Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, OR a New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive, service in a title at or above Grade 4, and deemed eligible for transfer to Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and possess excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will have the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments.
Duties Description The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) is an investigative office within the New York State Department of Health’s Division of Nutrition.
The Office Assistant (OA) 1 will review vendor applications for participation in the New York State Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Responsibilities will include assisting with new vendor background checks; reviewing WIC vendor application documents and contracts to ensure completeness; ensuring the vendor applicant is in compliance with other State Agencies and has not demonstrated poor business integrity; researching other sources of information, including internet searches; and performing paraprofessional duties such as scanning, filing, and, answering phones.
Additional Comments Full-time, permanent appointment. Transfer candidates, you may be asked for a Social Security Number to verify your transfer eligibility.
