Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma and six years of qualifying* experience working with youth at risk of gun-involved violence, two of which must be in a supervisory role at a NYS SNUG site. A valid driver’s license is also required.

*Qualifying Experience: First-hand experience with the criminal justice system or gun violence. Experience must include mediating conflicts that could escalate to violence and working first-hand with staff members that have been formerly justice-involved. The incumbent must be familiar with the SNUG curriculum and will have trained staff in street outreach using a public health approach to violence.

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will reflect the communities in this the SNUG program is located, be familiar with underlying reasons for gun violence, and assimilate into the communities and canvasses with outreach workers.

Duties Description Under the director of the Manager of Training, the Assistant Manager of Training positions will assist in the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of training for the Statewide SNUG program. The incumbents will be responsible for visiting each of the SNUG sites assigned to them monthly and will document and adjust training to improve the performance of the Outreach team at that site.

The Assistant Manager of Training will address site-specific training needs and identify areas in which extra training and/or staff support may be required. The incumbents of this position will assist the Manager Training in determining the short and long-term goals of strategic planning; coordinate trainings for social work, outreach, and program management staff including quarterly training sessions for outreach teams, and will assist in the curriculum of said outreach plans; collaborate with the social work staff to integrate trainings; and continually analyze each site to identify areas in need of improvement and making recommendations to the Manager of Training. These positions will unceasingly look for new and innovative street outreach programs to bring to NYS SNUG.
