Minimum Qualifications Open to all qualified candidates:

Open Competitive Opportunity – Nurse 1:

Nurse 2 (Psychiatric):
Have a license and be currently registered to practice nursing in New York State AND either one year of full-time post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience, of which six months must be specialized nursing experience with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency; OR eighteen months of full time post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience. Duties Description As Nurse 1 or Nurse 2 (Psychiatric), you will provide professional nursing services which include, but are not limited to, nursing interventions and their documentation, case finding, health teaching/counseling and provision of supportive and/or restorative care. You will also participate in staff training, prepare clinical and administrative reports, maintain infection control standards, and function as a member of a treatment team. You may also act as a charge nurse. You may provide supervision to subordinate professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in the performance of their patient/resident care duties and be responsible for maintaining inventory standards for medicine, controlled drugs, and narcotics.

4. Your degree or college credit must have been awarded by a
regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by
the NYS Education Department as following acceptable
educational practices. If your degree or college credit was
awarded by an educational institution outside the United States
and its territories, you must provide independent verification of
equivalency. You can write to the Examination Information Desk
of the Department of Civil Service for a list of acceptable

Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review:
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and Federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Salary schedules for the Nurse 1 and Nurse 2 (Psychiatric) position are as follows:
Nurse 1: $69,202-$82,806 Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 14 ($49,202) and Geographic Differential ($20,000). Geographic Differential added to the job rate ($62,806) for the PS&T Grade 14.
Nurse 2 (Psychiatric): $74,903 - $89,882 - Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 16 ($54,903) and Geographic Differential ($20,000). Geographic Differential added to the job rate ($69,882) for the PS&T Grade 16.
May be eligible for a shift differential.
