Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have permanent status as an Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, and be eligible for a lateral transfer, OR be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Individuals certified eligible for the 55b/c program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55b/c of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. Please provide a copy of your letter of eligibility with your response.

All OMH Central Office employees who are vaccinated for COVID-19 must show proof of vaccination. Fully vaccinated means that two (2) or more weeks have elapsed since receiving either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or the first and only dose of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson [J&J]/Janssen). Those not vaccinated must indicate this. Vaccination is required for many OMH positions but not all. Those not vaccinated for COVID-19 are ineligible for appointment to positions that require vaccination.
Duties Description The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill an Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, position assigned to the Office of Prevention and Health Initiatives (OPHI). OPHI is charged with proposing new policy and programs emphasizing primary and secondary prevention efforts. OPHI oversees initiatives targeting individuals across the lifespan, with the goal of advancing a robust and comprehensive prevention agenda. The Office also works to actively incorporate and address social determinants of mental health that are increasingly recognized as critical to overall health and wellness of individuals. The incumbent will be responsible for providing general clerical support the Office including administrative support for senior leadership. Specific duties to be performed include, but are not limited to, the following:
Schedule meetings and maintain staff calendars.
Prepare and route routine correspondences on behalf of the senior leadership team.
Answer the main phone line and refer calls to appropriate staff member.
Create, organize, and maintain paper and electronic files.
Scan, fax and/or photocopy documents.
Assist with obtaining senior staff signatures for document approval.
Assist with travel arrangements and collect travel documentation.
Assist with daily tasks and project tracking.
Serve as backup for other administrative staff in the Office as needed.
Perform other clerical duties as assigned.
