Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.

Duties Description Assist with the operation and maintenance of DEC facilities, including buildings, wildlife management areas, fishing access sites, and state forests. Will be required to operate light and heavy equipment and power tools safely and efficiently.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel, overnight travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Possession of a Class B CDL at time of hire is preferred. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 03/31/2023. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
