Minimum Qualifications Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list used for filling this title; or, one year of permanent, competitive class service as a Senior Attorney; or, one year of permanent, competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Example of eligible titles include but are not limited to: Senior Attorney Realty. 52.6 transfers may be considered only if you have passed the NYS Bar Exam.

Duties Description The incumbent will work in the Legal Department of the New York City office of the State Insurance Fund, and will be engaged in and expected to perform duties and tasks related to the
New York Workers’ Compensation Law, no-fault law, wrongful death claims and actions, third party practice, Disability Benefits Law, Volunteer Firefighters Benefit Law, and accidental injury
and occupational disease claims.

The specific tasks and duties related to the above will be to perform case review and analysis, research and analysis, preparation of advisory memoranda, engage in discovery and
depositions and/or examinations before trial, motion practice, case preparation for trials before an administrative agency (Workers’ Compensation Board), litigation, settlement negotiations, preparation for and attendance at arbitration proceedings, preparation of appeals including administrative and court appeals, drafting briefs, and presenting appellate argument.
