Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a plumbing trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.

When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Duties Description The incumbent at this location will perform journey level work in the primary trade of plumbing, skilled and semi-skilled levels of work in equipment maintenance, electrical, masonry, carpentry and other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities at Seneca Lake State Park, Canandaigua Lake State Marine Park and Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park as needed. Duties Include but are not limited to:
• Oversee the maintenance and spray ground operations, plan, lay out work, assign staff, provide instruction and assistance, supervise, and inspect work as well as maintain the spray ground operating equipment.
• Meet with supervisors representing other trades involved to coordinate activities and schedule work to be performed to ensure the effective utilization of staff, materials, and equipment and completion of projects on schedule. This also includes determining supplies required as well as purchasing of all project materials.
• Supervise permanent staff as well as seasonal staff will be required in combination with the training of such staff as needed.
• The incumbent at this facility will act as the second in command and in the Park Manager’s absence, will supervise others in other operational aspects of park operations including park office and ticket booth staff.
• Work involves medium to heavy manual labor and the ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment including, but not limited to, commercial mowers, chain saws, backhoes, etc., as well as communicating effectively.

Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be qualified and medically cleared to wear a respirator and have knowledge of good safety practices.
• Must have the physical ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor and have the ability to operate a variety of equipment.
• Must have current Certified Pool Operator’s license or successfully obtain within the probationary period as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be able to follow written direction, record and document required information, communicate effectively and have organizational skills.
• Must have the ability to operate a chainsaw and must complete Game of Logging during the next training session.
• Must comprehend and understand safety regulations on all aspects of operation.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a diverse work team.
• Must possess essential skills in problem solving, critical thinking and decision making.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays during operating season.
