statistics, epidemiology, horticulture, chemical engineering, agriculture, plant sciences, communications, urban studies, criminal justice, or psychology.
Trainee 2: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, public health, public policy, health administration, health policy, public administration, biology, microbiology, sociology, political science, analytics,
statistics, epidemiology, horticulture, chemical engineering, agriculture, plant sciences, communications, urban studies, criminal justice, or psychology and one year of experience* as described below.
SG-18: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, public health, public policy, health administration, health policy, public administration, biology, microbiology, sociology, political science, analytics,

Additionally, the preferred candidates will have excellent communication skills, including oral and written; ability to work independently as well as part of a team and prioritize workload.

Duties Description Reporting to the Program Specialist 2 (Cannabis) the incumbent of this position will assist with the work within the Quality Assurance and Research Unit to research and evaluate and cannabis products and administration methods are safe for consumers and the testing standards comply with regulations for medical, adult-use and cannabinoid hemp. Responsibilities will include data analysis, testing compliance review and research, Prescription Monitoring Program compliance, coordinating with state approved labs and development of education materials.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Review standard operating procedures, including, but not limited to requests by facilities to deliver or wholesale cannabis products.

• Analyze quality assurance research by assuring assigned staff consider the needs, capabilities and receptiveness of the customer in defining the scope of the activity, developing recommendations and communication with the customer.

• Ensure the consistent application of professional standards and OCM policies in the performance of Unit activities. This may include the review of assignment planning (i.e, assignment risk assessments, procedures, etc.), or other appropriate means.

• Work collaboratively with staff acting as a liaison to laboratories certified to conduct testing of cannabis in New York State and provide detailed research analysis.

• Assist with research and product review and approval. Review and approve recommended approvals or identified deficiencies or deviations, recommended corrective action and proposed citations and enforcement actions. Ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence of deficiencies in policy and regulatory compliance.

• Coordinate with state approved independent labs and review laboratory testing reports.

• Research best practices in quality control and quality assurance procedures for deviations or deficiencies in policy and regulatory compliance.

• Research and present proposed conference abstract submissions, journal and manuscript publications and work with the Public Information Office to get information publicized. Collaborate with staff and peers within OCM to finalize and present information.

• Identify opportunities for program enhancements, review utilization patterns and intervene when warranted.
