Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The person in this position will prepare and cook a variety of foods in a kitchen within the secure setting of Valley Ridge, CIT. They will be teaching our individuals the basic functions of operating a food service kitchen from preparation to closing. This will include preparing and cooking food, proper food storage, serving of food and cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen facility. They will be responsible for receiving and storing deliveries for food and for filling food requisitions for each house and the delivery of menu items.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares and cooks a variety of food using a variety of kitchen tools and utensils.
• Ensures food is prepared to the proper consistency including prescribed diets.
• Works with and mentors service recipients.
• Reviews and follows proper sanitation procedure and temperature controls.
• Keeps food and serving equipment in a clean, sanitized and good working order.
• Responsible for incoming stock to make sure it’s stored in the proper area and rotated accordingly.
• Arranges for distribution/delivery of food to facility houses.
• Makes and completes specific work assignment in the kitchen and food storage areas, including general and specific cleaning tasks.
