Salary RangeFrom $120117 to $146225 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in biology, public health, epidemiology, infection control, statistics/biostatistics, biomedical science, environmental health, environmental science, or a related degree, and five years of post-degree professional research experience in a relevant field.
OR: Doctoral degree in biology, public health, epidemiology, infection control, statistics/biostatistics, biomedical science, environmental health, environmental science, or a related degree, and three years of post-degree professional research experience in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in environmental health surveillance and evidence-based interventions; developing programs, policies, and processes that support healthy, equitable, and sustainable communities; program and project management; and experience in team building, strategic planning, and effective risk communication.
Duties Description The Research Scientist 5 will work as part of the Executive Team in the Department of Health's Center for Environmental Health. The Research Scientist 5 will serve as the Director of Strategic Operations, and will provide technical guidance, policy leadership, and direction on priority projects across the Center.
The position will provide critical evaluation of project/program outcomes and recommend strategic improvement options; identify, explore, and direct the design of research studies and data analyses of high impact areas confronting emerging issues, such as public drinking water supplies and emerging contaminants, wastewater-based epidemiology, exposure to contaminants in different environments (air, soil, water, etc.), and environmental surveillance for tracking pathogens and chemicals of environmental health concern. The position will also assist Center management in serving as the Department's liaison with other state agencies, federal agencies, coalitions, and the public on matters related to the protection of public health.
Additional Comments Full-time, permanent, non-competitive appointment. Travel to areas not served by public transportation may be required (5%).
