Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis

Duties Description CARPENTRY: This position requires journey level experience in all aspects of carpentry; to include but not limited to roofing, building rehabilitation & repair, new construction. Candidate must be able to make material lists, obtain quotes and may be required to lay out and lead projects to completion.
ELECTRICAL: This position requires basic level experience of electricity and candidate must have ability to make minor repairs and modifications to diagnose and repair pumps, motors, floats and other equipment.
PLUMBING: This position requires basic level experience in public water and sewer systems. The duties include but are not limited to seasonal start up and shut down - winterization annually, basic maintenance and repairs of associated, pumps, motors and components of these systems.
Additionally, duties will involve other areas of support and maintenance at facilities as directed; some of which will require DEC chainsaw certification to assist with hazardous tree removal.

This position will be located at Crown Point Maintenance Center in Crown Point. However, the candidate will be required to work at all facilities operated out of the Crown Point Working Circle when necessary.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 03/31/2023. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
