Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications for non-competitive appointment: four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Duties Description Trades Generalist - Electrician is responsible for all electrical work including planning and laying out of work and diagnosis of trouble systems or equipment in an assigned area on an assigned project for entire facility. Electricians frequently supervise others in the work including semi-skilled and relatively unskilled workers in an agency such as the Dept. of Corrections and Community Supervision where incarcerated individuals perform some electrical repair or installation tasks. A trades Generalist Electrician may be responsible for the work of a small group of such individuals. You would repair, maintain, install electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, controls and related equipment, small appliances including radio, T.V., and record players.
