Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Business Systems Analyst 1, SG-18: Reachable on the current PCO Select eligible list; OR Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c service in a title SG-16 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
Business Systems Analyst Trainee: Reachable on the current PATT or PCO eligible list; OR one year of permanent service in a title allocated to G-11 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer; OR to qualify for a 70.4 transfer, one year of service in a title allocated to SG-11 or higher and a bachelor’s degree in addition to a current or past standing on the PATT, PCO, PCT or PMI eligible lists.
Candidates appointed at the Trainee 1 level will need to successfully complete a two-year traineeship before advancing to the Business Systems Analyst 1, SG-18 level.
Duties Description The Business Systems Analyst 1 (BSA1) will provide business analysis services in support of the Division of Criminal Justice Services’ State Identification Bureau (SIB) and Office of Criminal Justice Records (OCJR). The BSA1 will strive to learn multiple facets of the core business areas within the assigned bureau to gain a full understanding of how the agency and business units function. The BSA1 will engage with agency staff and partners to understand the critical nature of the work the agency performs, so they can effectively support the necessary functions when needed. The BSA1 will research, gather and document requirements by working with various operational units within DCJS and by reviewing existing policies and procedures; document the current or “as-is” state of the business processes or functions; create flow charts, process models or other diagrams to describe various functions; develop test data and test scenarios to test system and business functions and document results; develop training materials related to business system implementation for users; write procedure manuals and document business process deficiencies that require resolution before or after implementation; and support the mission of the Business Analyst Unit.
