Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate must be reachable on the full-time, permanent Civil Service list for Library Clerk 2, have held the permanent title of Library Clerk 2 in the past or be eligible to transfer into the title.
OR
A provisional appointment may be considered. To be eligible for a provisional appointment, you must have one year of permanent service in a clerical or secretarial position allocated to Grade 6 or higher (e.g., Office Assistant 1) & must take the Library Clerk 2 exam the next time it is offered and be reachable for appointment.
Duties Description The duties include:
Reporting to the Library Clerk 3, the Library Clerk 2 performs specialized library clerical duties in support of the Collection Development, Resource Management & Sharing Department. Processing books, audio visual materials and other physical information resources; processing and paying invoices; creating records; copy cataloging of all books, serials, gifts, and government documents.
Ensuring accuracy of records in the library management system; importing and verifying bibliographic records; assisting in the removal of outdated library materials; assisting the acquisitions assistant in the book ordering process; and performing minor repairs to books in the circulating collection.
Other opportunities include participating in student engagement and outreach programming and library operational teams.
Department Description:
The James M. Milne Library is a beautiful, recently renovated academic library with a dynamic and diverse staff of 27. In addition to our collections, resources, and facilities, the library is committed to student engagement and hosts many creative, educational, and fun programs throughout the year. The Collection Development, Resource Management & Sharing Department provides books, electronic databases, and other quality information resources and services to support the teaching, learning, and scholarly activities of the College’s students, faculty, and staff in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
