Duties Description The Division of Environmental Stewardship & Planning (DESP) is hiring for an Administrative Specialist 1, SG-18 in the Albany-Main Office. The appointee will supervise clerical, paraprofessional and lower-level professional staff assigned to the office. In addition, this individual will provide professional administrative support to the Director of DESP by overseeing budgeting, human resources, and business services activities for the division.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Provide professional administrative and staff support to the Director
• Assist the Stewardship, Planning & Analysis, and Data Management/GIS bureaus with operational and administrative support
• Oversee NPS budget in addition to other funding EPF, NYW, and federal grants.
• Assist with processing contracts, managing purchases & reconciling statements in the Statewide Financial System (SFS)
• Manage recruitment process by overseeing drafting of postings, review and response to applicants, creation of interview panels, and scheduling of interviews for recruitments
• Oversee document management including the drafting, proofreading, editing, routing of executive documents, responses to public correspondence, newsletters, and blog posts
• Proofread and edit large plans and technical reports for distribution to the public
• Manage databases, spreadsheets and reports maintained and produced by the Bureaus
• Supervise lower-level clerical, administrative and paraprofessional staff
