Provisional Appointment Candidates : Current Open Competitive Qualifications: Six years of professional experience performing one or more of the following activities in a health care facility, health care agency, health care delivery system, Medicaid program, and/or other public or private health insurance program:
Activities:
1.Establishing, revising, and/or assisting with the implementation of program policies and procedures to meet treatment and/or regulatory requirements of health care.
2.Analyzing State and/or federal health insurance laws to inform the development or modification of program operations.
3.Determining financial eligibility for enrollment in public or private health insurance plans or government funded health services programs. Experience must have included evaluation of individuals’ financial information and/or health condition to ensure individuals meet eligibility criteria specified in State and/or federal laws, rules, and regulations." Substitution: An associate's degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required general experience, OR a bachelor’s degree may be substituted for up to four (4) years of the required general experience. You must clearly indicate how you meet the remaining years of required experience.

Duties Description "
This Medical Assistance Specialist 1 (MAS 1) will provide program and fiscal administration support to initiatives within the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health Policy, Division of Program Management and Development, NYS Office of Health Insurance Programs. The MAS 1 will develop and maintain budget management tools and workbooks for grant-funded initiatives, Medicaid pilot initiatives, and Medicaid benefit investments and will provide contract management support for state-funded contracts. The MAS 1 will assist in developing fiscal impact estimates for Medicaid policy proposals using healthcare utilization and cost data, track program expenditures, prepare budget reports, review, and process contract vouchers for payment, and conduct additional contract management processes. Communication across organization units within the Department of Health and with external entities will be required. "
