Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service as a Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, G22, or Community Nursing Services Consultant Home Health Services, G22 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service in a title G20 or higher and meeting the open competitve minimum qualifications listed below.

Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: Currently licensed and registered as a professional nurse in NYS; AND a minimum of Three ears of post-licensure health care, public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience as an RN in an acute care setting and familiar with the hospital surveillance process and State and Federal Laws and Regulations. The candidate must be highly motivated, possess excellent written, communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to function independently and work as a member of a team, prioritize and address multiple tasks and responsibilities; scheduling expertise. Must have a strong knowledge of databases and be computer literate. Dialysis experience is a plus.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Consultant Nurse Hospital Nurse Service Administrator, the Hospital Nursing Services Consultant will conduct and participate in federal and/or state surveys, conducting surveillance activities at various health care facilities throughout the MARO region, to determine compliance with federal and state regulations. Serving as a Team Coordinator, the HNSC will coordinating all on and off-site survey activities of the team. The HNSC is also responsible for preparing Statements of Deficiency using Principles of Documentation and reviews and approves Plans of Correction within required timeframes.
