1. A New York State Professional Engineer’s license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor’s degree or higher as listed below:

REASSIGNMENT QUALIFICATIONS: Current Department of Labor employees with permanent or contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Professional Engineer 1 (Industrial); if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current list for this location, if one exists.

70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Salary Grade 23 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.

PHYSICAL/MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: A medical examination will be required prior to appointment and you are responsible for payment of the clinical laboratory test fee. You may be required to have your physical and medical conditions evaluated annually to ensure that you are able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

FINGERPRINTING/BACKGROUND CHECK: Some positions may require a fingerprint/background check. If the position you applied for requires fingerprinting, you will be advised at the time of your interview. Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: As a professional Engineer (Industrial) in the Division of Safety and Health’s Engineering Services Unit, the incumbent will perform the following but now limited to:

• Performing professional engineering duties related to design and evaluation of industry standards that affect safety and health of workers and the general public.
• Evaluate work standards that support worksite conditions such as exposure to materials that may affect health and safety.
• Analyze human factors affecting the work environment and environmental factors that affect worker and the general public’s exposure to risks to air, water and land quality.
• Review plans and variances or modifications from mandated safety performance and specification standards.

Additional Comments This position may require a fingerprint background check prior to appointment.

Telecommuting and travel will be discussed during interview.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.

Additional location pay is available for the following counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, NYC-Manhattan, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam.
