Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree* with at least 15 credit hours in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology; and two years of information technology experience, including one year of information security or information assurance experience**.

*Substitution: bachelor's degree candidates without at least 15 course credits in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology require an additional year of general information technology experience to qualify. Appropriate information security or information assurance experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis; an associate degree requires an additional two years of general information technology experience.

**Experience solely in information security or information assurance may substitute for the general information technology experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree with a concentration or major in Information Security, Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, or a related field.
• Applicable Information Security certificate(s), including but not limited to Certificate in Information Security Fundamentals (e.g., Security+, GSEC, CISF, GISF,CISSP).

Familiarity of:
• Government security and privacy mandates/regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, PCI, IRS Pub 1075, CJIS)
• Information Security (CIA triad, Information Classification, Risk Management, Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, Security Architecture & Engineering)
• Information Security Frameworks (NIST Cyber Security Framework, CIS Controls, ISO 27000 series)
• IT Management Frameworks (ITIL, COBIT)
• Digital Media Campaigns
• 2+ years’ experience in technical writing
• 1+ years’ experience in the following areas:
-Awareness program development
-Project management

• Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate information technology and information security concepts to a varied audience to facilitate wide understanding.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated skill in facilitating meetings, listening, and negotiating between multiple stakeholders to drive results.

Duties Description The Chief Information Security Office is dedicated to the protection of the State's cybersecurity infrastructure through the identification and mitigation of vulnerabilities, deterring and responding to cyber events; and promoting cybersecurity awareness within the State. The Office is also responsible for State-wide policies, standards, programs, and services relating to cybersecurity. In the Outreach unit for the Chief Information Security Office, under the guidance and direction of the Outreach Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for cybersecurity awareness outreach and awareness activities.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with promoting cybersecurity awareness programs and activities in NYS, including representing ITS CISO at booth exhibits, giving presentations and assisting in the planning and execution of activities. Develop content rich materials to disseminate in support of cybersecurity.
• Prepare and review cybersecurity communications, such as, awareness bulletins, press releases, social media campaigns, newsletters, and other published content.
• Coordinate and support educational campaigns, including cybersecurity competitions.
• Coordinate participation for New York State in National Awareness and cybersecurity focused events.
• Assist in the content creation and maintenance of CISO cybersecurity web pages.
• Maintain channels of communication to targeted audiences (State and local government, education sectors, and citizens)
• Collaborate and foster partnerships with State and national work groups.
• Assist the team’s effort to support, expand, and create innovative options for the annual New York State Cybersecurity Conference.
