MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.

Preferent Qualifications:

• Excellent creative and institutional writing skills.
• Proven work experience developing and delivering compelling, informative, and well-written prose.
• Portfolio of at least five published and diverse examples of your work.
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English, journalism, or closely related field.
• Two or more years of professional writing experience.
• Demonstrated ability of strong writing and communication skills including communicating effectively with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines.
• Proven attention to detail while retaining the ability to see the bigger picture.
• Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: Under the direction of the Communications department leadership, you will:

• Work closely with the creative team to develop and write attention-grabbing story concepts for NYSDOL and other agency’s social media videos, newsletters, speeches, news releases, print projects (including reports, white papers, and factsheets), out of home advertising, and more.
• Produce press releases, respond to media inquiries, and pitch stories to state and local media outlets.
• Collaborate with other agency divisions to develop and execute concepts for their writing needs.
• Generate and present clear ideas and concepts that meet assigned project objectives and comply with team standards
• Bring with you a can-do positive attitude (we are a team that has fun working hard).
