Minimum Qualifications No minimum qualification per Civil Service. Please see Operating Needs in the Additional Comments section below.

Duties Description The duties and responsibilities of the Receptionist include but are not limited to:
1. Serving as the first point-of-contact as the Receptionist for the NYC Region office. Answering telephones, taking and relaying messages, greeting staff, visitors and patrons in a friendly and courteous manner, and utilizing a multi-line phone set.
2. Performing office tasks such as data entry, filing, alphabetizing, copying and other related tasks using computers, postage machines and other standard office equipment.
3. Learning and using in-house databases to process payroll, purchasing and personnel transactions.
4. Creating databases as needed to record and streamline office procedures.
5. Handling complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users, and other related customer service issues for regional office and all State Parks in the New York City region.
6. Updating calendars and logs for front desk operations.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
1. Must be able to write and communicate proficiently in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful but not required.
2. Prior business office experience and some college studies preferred.
3. Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work independently and set priorities as assigned by supervisor.
4. Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills
5. Must possess strong computer and spreadsheet skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
6. Must be willing to support additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Regional Office.
7. Must be willing to occasionally support tasks and projects at other New York State Parks work sites in the New York City Region.
8. Must be able to work 37.5 hours a week, Monday through Friday, and possibly extended weekday hours.
9. Must be eligible to accept employment in the United States.
