Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have one year of satisfactory experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping or in a business operation.* At least 6 months of such experience must be at the supervisory level. Must be at least 18 years of age and have and maintain a valid driver's license.
*Experience in a business operation must include responsibilities dealing with the public, customer service and daily financial reporting and processing.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with NYSDEC facility infrastructure; Knowledge of NYSDEC campground rules and regulations; Knowledge of operation and maintenance of chlorinated water system; First Aid/CPR/AED certified; Game of Logging certified.
Duties Description This position is public facing and will deal with park patrons daily. Candidate will be able to communicate effectively with staff and customers, enforcing rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all park employees and visitors.
Duties include:
-Daily operation and maintenance of infrastructure in all Region 4 campgrounds
-Plumbing, electrical, and carpentry diagnostics and repair
-Maintaining equipment and supply inventory
-Account for all work completed via work orders in MMS
-Manual labor such as shoveling, raking, picking up trash, etc.
Off-season duties will include working with various crews on capital construction projects and infrastructure maintenance. Additional winter duties include snow plowing and winter road maintenance in the campgrounds.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/24, with a possibility of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
