Salary RangeFrom $61423 to $76218 Annually
Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Political Science or related discipline and at least 2 years of professional work experience in research and analysis. A relevant Master's degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Duties Description The Research Analyst will vet candidates for events, executive appointments to boards and commissions using public databases and compile and present results in concise reports to senior staff. Analysts are also expected to compose policy memoranda and provide data analysis documents for senior staff. In addition, Analysts will monitor and evaluate news cycles and social media to identify issues relevant to the people of New York State. Analysts may be asked to assist with the development of the Governor’s policy initiatives, including monitoring use of state resources and evaluating transparency issues. The research process is intended to ensure government integrity, enhanced trust in government, and to permit fully informed decision-making in state government.
The Research Analyst is expected to have strong analytical skills (i.e. network and databases), proficient writing, and an understanding of Boolean search modifiers and must possess a strong acumen for critical thinking.
