Minimum Qualifications For permanent appointment: Candidate must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list or eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. Candidates must possess a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration. Candidates must also possess either:
A qualifying bachelor's degree or higher in
Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees;
OR
One year of full-time engineering experience in Mechanical/HVAC.
Duties Description Under the supervision of a Professional Engineer 2 (Civil), the incumbent will perform engineering duties related to new construction, renovation or long term maintenance projects including design, budget, estimates and work plans; construction project inspection and management; recommend construction or rehabilitation projects; determine sequencing of phases of projects; review and approve estimates, specifications, reports and offering plans, and contract changes through the life of the project; and provide technical advice to engineers, legal staff, consultants and department or institution contract management and budget representatives on the financial, structural or constructions requirements of projects
Incumbent will also prepare maintenance and preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC equipment and carousel; maintain, service and repair equipment; monitor all park technical systems, including digital monitoring, on an ongoing basis; perform monthly inspection and maintenance of carousel and the stage lifts parkwide; monitor chillers, cooling tower and water treatment; identify repair parts needed for maintenance of equipment and prepare scopes of work; perform roof inspections parkwide, research technical aspects for repair or replacement, prepare quotes; review technical specifications; monitor and supervise on site capital projects; supervise General Mechanic; and perform other duties as assigned by Park Administration while modeling Agency’s core values.

Candidates must possess effective communication skills and have the ability to understand written and/or verbal material and instructions. Must possess good computer skills. Candidate must also possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.

SALARY: The posted hiring rate is the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PEF PS&T Grade 24 ($83,550) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,026) The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($105,472) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,026).
