Minimum Qualifications Two years' experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, or recreational facility; OR two years' experience as a Trades Assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical/trades school course.

Duties Description The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Park Manager at Midway State Park or their designee. The incumbent will be responsible for the supervision and training of the Midway grounds and cleaning crew to ensure the grounds of Midway State Park are maintained to a high aesthetically pleasing standard. The incumbent will perform or assist with routine grounds work which will include, but is not limited to:
• Mowing, trimming, tree maintenance, playground maintenance, plowing, and snow removal.
• Coordinate special event setup and breakdown;
• Responsible for the removal of trash and other debris from buildings and surrounding areas.
• Assist with the hazardous tree program year-round, which will include assessment of trees under program criteria, recommending appropriate action, proper pruning and removal of trees (including stumps), and thorough record keeping.
• Directly supervise cleaning staff, making daily cleaning assignments based upon operational needs and checking the work of subordinates to ensure compliance with OPRHP’s quality standards.
• The incumbent will manage vegetation on pathways and camper pads and control invasive species throughout assigned area under applicable NYS DEC Pesticide Technician License category (3A) and agency policies and procedures.
• The incumbent will be expected to perform regular “hands on” cleaning tasks and other duties as dictated by the operational needs of the facility.
• Responsible for training seasonal cleaning staff with an emphasis on customer service, health & safety policies and procedures, and efficiency, as well as developing cleaning schedules for all seasonal cleaning staff and tracking the inventory of cleaning supplies.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must be available to work a variable schedule that may include holidays and/or evening shifts.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess Game of Logging 1, 2, and 3 certifications or be able to obtain Game of Logging 1, 2, and 3 certifications within the probationary period as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess a NYS Pesticide Technician Certification, Category 3A, or obtain it within in the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess Hazardous Tree assessment certification or be able to obtain it within the probationary period.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner under stressful conditions.
• Must Possess Mower Trainer certification or be able to obtain during probation period
