Minimum Qualifications Current Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as a Health Systems Specialist 1, G-18 OR New York State Employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law; OR reachable on the Professional Careers Opportunities (PCO) eligible list.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; knowledge of Microsoft Office Products - computer literacy; strong writing and verbal skills are required. Experience with various databases, providing customer service, including technical assistance and support over the phone and by email preferred, but not required.
Duties Description The Health System Specialist 1 (HSS1) is assigned to the Bureau of Home Care Registry Operations and Training Programs in the Division of Home and Community Based Services. The HSS1 is a member of the team responsible for the on-going management of the Home Care Registry (HCR), a publicly accessible web-based registry of paraprofessional workers trained and certified to provide certain home care services in New York. This position will be responsible for a range of activities that will include, but are not limited to, entering information into the HCR; collecting data and providing ad hoc reports from the registry as requested; researching answers to registry related questions; assuring that the information entered into the registry is correct and accurate; assisting with HCR email inquiries and phone inquiries; providing customer service support for HCR users and the general public; providing customer services and support for Health Commerce System (HCS) users and the general public; other duties as assigned. The incumbent in this position will also assist with review and oversight of Personal Care Aide (PCA) and Home Health Aide (HHA) training programs, including reviews of applications for new training programs and re-approval applications, reviews of training program personnel documentation, providing guidance and regulation assistance, as well as adding and removing personnel from the Home Care Registry.
