Minimum Qualifications You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
70.1 Transfer:
For a 70.1 transfer to the Senior Accountant, SG-18, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in an approved 70.1 title allocated to a salary grade 16 or above.
70.1 Transfer to a trainee 2:
For a 70.1 transfer to the Accountant trainee 2, SG-14, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in an approved 70.1 title allocated to a salary grade 12 or above.
70.1 Transfer to a trainee 1:
For a 70.1 transfer to the Accountant trainee , SG-13, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in an approved 70.1 title allocated to a salary grade 11 or above.
Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.

For a 55 b/c appointment, you must:
• Possess the minimum qualifications for the selected title as established by the Department of Civil Service and listed on the most recent exam announcement.

Depending on qualifications, you may be required to serve a 1 or 2-year traineeship that leads to the full level grade 18 position.
Duties Description Desired Competencies:
• Ability to conduct oneself and communicate in a constructive, professional manner with all internal and external business partners, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to prepare detailed account and transaction reconciliations for multiple accounts and accurately prepare complex reports.
• Ability to work competently with multiple web-based and software systems.
• Ability to work well under the pressure of daily time constraints while maintaining the accuracy of the work performed.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, team environment, providing backup and support to other staff.
• Ability to timely identify, research, communicate, and document any discrepancies or unusual circumstances
Additional Comments Reconcile and Maintain Employer Reporting Accounts
• Reconcile and maintain Employer Reporting Accounts
• Analyze Employer Reporting daily queries from PeopleSoft. Work closely with staff to correct errors and follow through to maintain data integrity.
• Reconcile Source Data details from HCM to items in FIN within PeopleSoft.
• Collaborate with State Payroll staff to reconcile/maintain weekly PAYSR reports against Retirement System data entered into PS to ensure all records received are accepted/processed.
• Reconcile/maintain Source Data issues related to data conversion into PeopleSoft.
Other Duties as Assigned
• Research legal issues and assists in updating procedures and supporting schedules, forms, and reports in responses to changes in the law.
• Provide advice and assistance to bureau management, line supervisors and employers in State and local jurisdictions concerning accounting matters in the employer billing area.
• Participate in educational opportunities and keep current with all GASB related information.
• Research other retirement systems’ procedures, laws, and policies.
• Collaborate with bureaus within our agency as well as staff from other retirement systems.
• Draft policies and procedures for the bureau, as needed.
