Minimum Qualifications Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent service as an Associate Accountant, SG-23; OR current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 21 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with financial statement analysis; familiarity with GAAP; familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid rules; familiarity with trends in aging and long-term care.
Duties Description The Associate Accountant will work with a team in the Center for Aging and Long Term Care Finance and Supports to review grant applications for aging and long term care facilities, and to provide quantitative analysis for policy proposals developed in the Bureau of Long Term Care Policy. Primary duties will include reviewing financial statements and transformation proposals, and drafting funding recommendations based on criteria set by statute and by department policy. The associate acocuntant will additionally participate in group reviews of grant applications and funding recommendations.
