Minimum Qualifications As per Civil Service Standards. There are no educational or experience requirements. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Training provided. When required to operate a motor vehicle, applicant must possess and keep a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. The applicant must have and keep a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
Duties Description As per Civil Service Standards duties will include routine manual tasks requiring medium to heavy physical effort in the cleaning and care of assigned areas of the campus, including academic areas, offices, corridors, lavatories, public areas, etc. Use of mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, and other manual and /or mechanical cleaning equipment to dust, wash and polish floors, stairs, walls, windows, etc. in designated areas. Use of appropriate equipment such as ladders and scaffolds to clean high places such as ceilings, windows and light fixtures, and change light bulbs. Duties also include set up and take down of equipment for special events, including the placement and removal of tables, chairs, podiums, and stages, in assigned areas such as meeting rooms and classrooms, athletic fields, etc. May require the use of manual or mechanical equipment to remove snow, clean sidewalks, and drive a ride mower in assigned areas.
Additional Comments The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States. In addition to the annual salary, this position is eligible to receive $3,087.00 downstate location pay.
Different shifts may be required from time to time to meet the needs of the College.
