Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming).
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Section 52.6 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55b/c eligibility letter.
Duties Description Seeking candidates for an ITS 2 position in the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS). This Office provides technology support to over 2,800 NYSED staff through the ITS Help Desk/Training Unit in the Automation Support Center, which provides end-user microcomputer services. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide phone, email, ticket and in person assistance to ITS Help Desk customers for NYSED standard software and hardware, network issues, and information security incidents;
• Work effectively with NYSED staff to analyze complex technical hardware, software, and network problems, and devise solutions that meet customers’ needs;
• Develop comprehensive IT solutions based on in-depth knowledge and experience specific to how NYSED technologies works together;
• Create beginner and advanced level training courses for NYSED supported software and present them virtually and/or in person in a formal classroom setting
• Create written instructions, handouts, and course materials to explain features of hardware and software;
• Create and maintain Help Desk and Training web pages;
• Research features of new and existing software;
• Utilize Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Microsoft Active Directory for troubleshooting;
• Collaborate and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with ITS staff and program office staff; and,
• Document IT issues and fixes using appropriate ITS procedures and practices.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This will be a contingent permanent, appointment. For 55b/c appointment, candidates must possess the minimum qualifications, a current 55b/c eligibility letter and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
This position leads to a maximum salary of $77,912 based on annual performance advances.
